Possibly, don't have alist so can't say for sure..
If he didn't go to war and actually fought the best opponents that were available to him at 1 time or another e.g Ezzard Charles, Charley Burley, Eddie Booker, Holman Williams, Jake LaMotta and a number of others, so many great fights which could of been made for him and all of them deserved a shot at his title which was held out of distance.
Is this a trick question ? must be, I've never heard a bad word about Zale. He's in my Top 10 Body Punchers, In my Top 10 for Pure Toughness. I still can't understand how Ray ROBINSON and Zale never fought, and he's a Top 10 Middleweight, All Time Great for sure. P4P probably somewhere between 9o and 50 All Time. NOTE, I don't like to rate many Un-Filmed Champs, too many hard questions to be sure for your own sake, Greb makes any list but where to put him is just a massive stretch of the imagination for me as I've seen footage of most greats since the Papke's and Ketchel's time. Greb was very tough, sounds a bit like Tony. One more thing, Zale's 3 wars against Rocky G. are proof positive to Tony Zale and Greatness, probably 3 of the best 10 fights EVER EVER.
