I have no evidence to support this but im guessing Roy and Benn not fighting was because Roy didnt want it. Benn was a warrior like no other and had Roy sent him a contract i believe Benn would have signed in a heartbeat.

Benn was offered the fight in 1996. He turned it down. I think he even admitted he did but I'd have to look it up. I don't blame him though. By then, Benn was a spent force.

Calzaghe was a paper champ not even considered the best in his division. An unknown until about 2002. And no, it wouldn't have been better then the fights Jones had because back then, NOBODY thought Calzaghe was better than Lou Del Valle, for instance. Can't use hindsight here, my friend.
That is why I said you were right, it was hindsight on my part!

Also, Mclellans Career was over in his fight with Benn only 3 months after Roy moved up to fight James Toney.

Well then, please take him off that list of names he should've fought! My goodness. You put a few other head-scratchers up there as well, like Rochigianni, who pulled out of a fight with Jones in 99/2000.

The idea that Jones should've fought McClellan is laughable. It's just one of those things people throw out not really looking at what was going on. When was he gonna fight him at 160? Or after the Benn fight? Like, come on.

If you noticed I've already said all these fights not getting made doesn't fall entirely on Roy. But the bottom line is if Jones really wanted some of these fights they could have happened. I wouldn't have picked any to beat him, but they still should have been made.

Well we're going down the list, aren't we?

                  1. Calzaghe, we've already pointed out how that is completely off-base.

Now we move to Rochigianni who umm, Roy signed to fight only to have Rochigianni no-show at the first presser and disappear for weeks before pulling out and admitting an alcohol problem. Do you have any dispute with that or should we go on to the next name?

At the end of 1993 they were both ranked numbers 1 and 2 at middleweight, so the fight COULD have happened.
