Who do you rank higher p4p and why, Salvador Sanchez or Wilfredo Gomez?

I find this question very difficult JAB5239, being a big fan of both these fighters while they were fighting.
Matter of fact a friend wanted me go see Danny Lopez defend his title and I declined being that Lopez was fighting some unknown fighter from Mexico. lol Still regret that decision today, but that is another story.

Both were great and it is hard for me to hold the fact that Sanchez beat Gomez and what might have happened had he not met with an untimely death against the tremendous run Gomez had at junior featherweight.

Can I say a tie.

A tie is not unfair, in truth. I have the absolute highest regard for Sanchez, always have, & I think their fight would not have had a different outcome, ultimately, if they were the same size. Sanchez's whiskers & rate of recovery were simply super-human, & forever a match for Gomez's outstanding punch. The fact that Sanchez passed at such a young age & may still be considered the better man is high praise indeed, given the great career Gomez enjoyed. I do think Pedroza would've given Sanchez a great, great fight, & I would not be as surprised as some if Sanchez's growing disregard for defense caught up with him at some stage in the higher weightclasses, had he chosen to climb.

Still, the man was next to unflappable. Superb jaw, unreal conditioning & such a great boxing brain all-round. I would go with Sanchez.

its quantity vs quality. Gomez had the longer career over a lot of good fighters, but in Sanchez's few years as champ holy **** he fought quality opposition. its honestly amazing when I think about it.
