Calzaghe had excellent hand speed but he gets hit and he goes down. I think Jones would knock Calzaghe out.

Similar to Hamed in that he had excellent powers of recovery.. Tbh, there could be the odd flash knockdown either way, but i don't see Calzaghe getting KO'd. Arguably, Joe had the better chin of the 2, but Roy would have been a bit cuter in defense. That, and Roy's slight edge in power, is all that seperates them really.
I'd envisage a close and tactical fight with the odd explosive moment..

While we're on the subject, i think prime versions of Eubank, Collins and Darius were also capable of lasting the DC with Jones, but would all take a much heavier beating than Calzaghe would.

You people are really giving Calzaghe way too much credit. He gets KO'd by Benn Dariusz and Roy

No, he was good and he proved he was good. If old Calzaghe with bad hands can put it on a slightly older Jones, aswell as outbox the Hopkins who schooled Pavlik, it gives a good indication that a prime Calzaghe could have quite easily have lived with them during thier heydays.

People make too much of Hopkins' win over Pavlik. Pavlik has been grossly overrated around here the past few years so the only thing impressive about it was the fact that Hopkins beat ANYONE with a slight pulse at his age.

THATS RIGHT! Thats another of Hopkins' cheap wins that strengthened his legacy, a legacy that is already based in large part of beating smaller guys and overated guys.

As opposed to beating a bunch of Euro minor-leaguers and shot former champs?

                    I'll go with Benn.

I don't think Roy has a glass chin in his prime. But at the same time, I think Benn, if he could get inside (or at least close enough that Roy wouldn't see his short punches coming in time) had a good chance of landing something.

With Roy, you have to ask yourself...could the boxer in question outbox him? With Eubank and Calzaghe I think the odds are against it. So then it becomes 'could they knock him out?'. Calzaghe wasn't feather fisted in his prime but I don't see him finishing Roy. Eubank could perhaps catch him with something as he was the best counter-puncher on the list. But when it comes to Roy Jones, I think an all-out assault is more likely to produce a win than a patient, counter-punching approach. Toney was a better counter-puncher than Eubank anyway, I think, and he didn't really come close to beating Roy.

So I'll go with Benn, even though I don't see him as the best fighter on the list.

if benn could hit roy clean, and that's a big if, he could knock him out. other guys tried to swarm roy when he was in his prime and no one could. benn would have to trap roy against the ropes or be able to cut off the ring but i think prime roy's amazing reflexes would have benn swinging and missing. i'd like to see prime benn against prime calzaghe, i think benn could have knocked him out, calz unlike roy could be suckered into standing and trading with benn
