  • Who rates higher, Carbajal or Gonzalez?

This is a thread I saw at another forum which I frequent and its a good discussion. One guy, a big Humberto Chiquita Gonzalez fan, argues that he shouldn't be rated below Michael Carbajal. Gonzalez won the trilogy of their fights, but lost by ko to Carbajal while winning 2 fights by close, disputed decisions.

So what do you think, is there any ground to say Gonzalez was equally good as Carbajal?

Carbajal simply had the better resume.

would have love to see either guy fight ricardo lopez or too sharp johnson. Gonzalez was signed to fight too sharp but he lost to sorjutuang

Am I wrong or wasn't Carbajal calling for Lopez to move up and fight him for awhile?

I prefer Gonzalez's claim in this one, myself. It is too facile to say his wins do not mean as much because he won close decisions, while Carbajal scored a KO. For one thing, just as Gonzalez only narrowly won their two latter fights, Carbajal, for his part, was dominated through most of the first bout, a fact punctuated by two knockdowns (he was simply being out-classed on offense for the first, while the second genuinely shook him up).

Carbajal won one, Gonzalez, two. Add that I always felt Gonzalez would do better against some of the greats historically, & that's enough to get him the nod from me.

If you think Gonzalez won the last two, I could see an arguement for him. I'm afraid this rules me out.
