What If Schmeling Had Defeated Louis In The Rematch?

How different would of boxing been, with Schmeling taking the title back to Germany? How would boxing be to today and back then overall?

Would have seen him becoming the first man to regain the title and itd have spawned a rival us title

I think the political powers that were would have made him sit on the title as a sign of **** supremacy. Probably would have had him fight only German and European contenders until they were forced to do otherwise by public opinion. I doubt he would have been allowed to fight Louis again. But if Louis had lost twice Im sure there would have been little call for it.

Louis beating Schmeling at that time was his "in" to every american house hold. Racism was still a big factor back then but by Louis beating Schmeling it seemed to remove the color barrier as the U.S watched him fight on television. It instantly made him a hero , by beating the German as Hitler was on his military advances and proclaiming a superior race.

Had he lost, well its hard to say. Louis was a great man inside of the ring and out. I don't believe that he would be as beloved as he is now through history but he did beat him. He raised American morale two fold during a tough time for American. It's a borrowed saying but, Joe Louis was a credit to his race, the human race..........Rockin'

Look at all the American champions. We out number the world. I'd have to assume we'd still out number the world.
