  • Dream Matchups

What are some great fights you can think of? Try not to do obvious ones like Tyson vs. Ali (overrated fight in my opinion, anyway) or Duran vs. Chavez. Share your best matchups and predict the outcome if you can.

Ike Quartey vs. Wilfred Benitez: I think Benitez is too good for Quartey, but watching him solve that ungodly jab would be a sight to behold.
Israel Vazquez vs. Marco Antonio Barrera: Barrera is a higher class of fighter, but in his younger days, he was an all out brawler. He wins by late stoppage, but that fight gets vicious quick. I could definitely see some rounds approaching 220 total punches thrown.
Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Henry Armstrong: Ok, maybe this one is a little obvious, but that would be savage. Too close to call, if you ask me, but put a gun to my head and I'd probably say Armstrong by decision.
Darelle Revis vs. Jerry Rice: ...Sorry, big win last night.

Marvin Hagler vs Harry Greb - Hagler by Extremely Tight Decision

I think Hagler struggles to cope with Greb's swarming style while trying to box in the early rounds and loses most of these, towards the middle rounds Hagler gets more agressive and starts to land flush blows on Greb who returns fire accordingly and the middle rounds are hotly contested and many are pick em's, Hagler piles on unlimited pressure onto Greb in the late rounds as he realises he needs to get more points he uses aggresive calculated attacks to confuse Greb and sc****s a decision with his tenacious attack over the last few rounds with the public shouting for a rematch!

Thomas Hearns vs Stanley Ketchel - Hearns could outbox Ketchel but, I reckon he gets sparked somewhere near round 9 after healthy lead on points.

Greb vs. Hagler is as good a matchup as it gets. If we are to believe the newspapers descriptions, Greb is one of the only guys who can match Marvelous Marvin for sheer toughness. That would be a brawl for the ages.

Greb was as tough as it gets and had an iron chin, much like Hagler so no-one is getting stopped.
It also depends how Hagler fights his fight and would need to adapt during it to win as I have described above.

What do you think of Toney vs. LaMotta at 168? Slick slick slick slick vs. rough rough rough rough. To me, that's a true pick 'em fight, but, gun to my head, I probably pick Toney because he can do more.

I would pick Toney in this one, it would be his early lead that won him the decision though.

I actually think curry would beat floyd by close decision. At 147 floyd throws 1 punch at a time, I dont think donald would give him too many opportunities to counterpunch. I think foster would stop monzon in 8 or 9 rds. Monzon wont have the luxury to be the bigger man in this fight like he did at mw, he also wont have the speed to stay away from fosters left hook. i think burley would out-think giardello in a very good technical matchup by decision. I think lamotta was physically stronger than the hurricane and would outwork him in a war. I think graziano would stop roldan in 7-8 in a war graziano could punch with that right hand

How do you think this goes? I still think Robinson takes a hard earned UD.
