i can remember watch an early Garry Mason fight on TV in the late 80s and Mason knocked out his opponent lifting the guy completely off the canvas with the KO punch.. Mason was a very decent fighter and tremendous puncher.

I have always heard that Mason was an underrated fighter and a gentleman. Having a ten year pro career with your only loss being to Lennox Lewis is nothing to dismiss. This is tragic news.

I'm so glad you said that Sonny.. Couldn't agree with you more..
Ironically, they got rid of him for accidently blurting out the 'F' word during a live commentary.. Big mistake imo, because he wasn't just knowledgable, but very entertaining too.. A real down to earth bloke and i'm absolutely gutted he's gone..

Will never forget how brave he was against Lewis, taking a terrible beating that ended in a detached retina that finished his career.. For a fighter who'd had it very much his own way in most fights, he turned out to be as game as they come..

RIP Gary Mason - a bloody good fighter who would stop and help anyone..
