  • Just watched Gatti-Ward 1....

Had never seen these fights before and after watching the fighter i wanted to watch it and see what all the fuss is about and WOW! That has to be one of the best toe to toe brawls in a boxing ring. Just when you think one guy was in the trouble he would come back and hurt the other guy and it was like this most the fight. Going to watch 2 and 3 if there anywhere near as good as the 1st i wont be disappointed!

1 is one of the greatest pure brawls in history. 2 is a good fight, but doesn't quite live up to the first. 3 is great because of the added drama...if you haven't seen it, you'll see.

Gatti- "I hurt my right hand i think its broken"

Generic cornerman- "what you want me to do?"

Gatti- "I got to keep going"

what a warrior!! both these guys got balls of steel and have my upmost respect!!

Oh man, you gotta rethink Buddy McGirt as a generic cornerman. He saved Gatti's career. And he says "baby" a lot.

Pure brawl? From what I recall Gatti spent at least half of that fight boxing the **** out of Ward. Ward winning on points was pretty laughable.

In the second and third fights, sure. But the first fight was an all-out brawl, no doubt about it. Couple that with two two-point rounds and it's no surprise that Ward won.

You might want to rewatch it. Gatti's strategy was boxing, which he did for at least the first half. He might have fought in spots but that was not the main thread. That fight has a reputation that does not match with reality, the brawling came in the last couple rounds, which is all that a lot of people seem to remember. The only round I recall Ward winning was the knockdown round, and of course Gatti was deducted a point earlier.

His strategy might have been boxing, but his strategy was always boxing. He just never stuck with it. I do have to rewatch it, but last time I scored it, I had it 94-94, dead even.

2 is pretty much a wipeout with Gatti boxing Ward easily. I would only watch it if you're really curious.

3 is better and I think won foty or was a runner up the year it happened. Still not as good as the first but you could tell both guys wanted to let it all hang out for the fans.
