I dont think its even close Corrales vs Castillo easily takes it. I mean Oscar vs Ike was real good , tho more technical than people remember other than the 6th and 12th rounds but Chico and JLC was one of the Greatest fights of all time if not THE greatest!Comment

Corrales spits his gum shield out... twice to receive more time. So it's not like he got put down and got straight back up to win. He cheated... does... no?! That completely undermines it for me. Castillo clearly exhausts himself putting him down yet, he gets back up. Its much easier to recover your legs than it is to get your breathe/energy back.
Yeah, the atmosphere was great, it was chico de mayo if i remember correctly, and it was a crossroad in both their careers... but... it's not a classic to me personally. I can appreciate why some people like it, but equally why they don't.Last edited by Steward; 12-22-2010, 04:44 PM.Comment

De La Hoya-Quartey produced a classic, classic confrontation in the final round, the likes of which was just immense in the moment. It was as gripping as any fight of that year --- in fact, I would call it the highlight moment of 1999. The rest of the fight upto that point had been very good, but not all-time great. Every minute of Corrales-Castillo I, on the other hand, was just unreal.
With due respect to the show De La Hoya & Quartey put on, it is quite easily Corrales-Castillo I as the answer. A better challenge would be comparing that fight to, say, Morales-Barrera I, or Vazquez-Marquez III. That is truly tough to answer.Comment
