Why so few undisputed champions these days?

So why do so few boxers these days become undisputed champions? How come more of them don't try to win all the major title belts in their weight class? Don't they want to beat all of the champions and be considered the best in their weight class?

It's called boxing politics my friend. An example is Timothy Bradley is fighting Devon Alexander and this fight should be for the WBC, WBO and IBF Titles but the IBF stripped Alexander for not fighting some tomato can mandatory challenger and it won't be for the WBC because Bradley won't pay the WBC a sanctioning fee because they stripped him of that belt for winning the WBO belt. Confused? Aren't we all.

WTF. What douches allow stuff like that to happen? And they wonder why there are so many fewer boxing fans than there used to be. Actually, I'm not even totally sure about that, but I know it doesn't get near the local TV coverage it used to and doesn't have the household names like it once did, so it has to be less popular.

Maybe if they keep losing fans to other sports, like football, basketball and MMA things will change. I won't be holding my breath though.

What GRANDSLAM said and because, people don't want to. Pacquiao would rather grab an alphabet soop title than fight everyone and take a few losses, he fears for his legacy but, to the true fans he is harming it as they can see through is BS. He still demands catch-weights as well which is beyond me.

Bcause nobody cares about the fighting,m but the money. And the cheap little W organizations, like bickering children, are unable to take their heads out their asses and see that they are damaging boxing and making its titles pathetic.

If you win an undisputed title these days, you suddenly inherit up to four different mandatory contenders. So obviously you can't fight them all in time. The alphabet orgs want their own champions rather than a unified ones. The sad fact is that the undisputed champion may be like the 30 game winning pitcher. It hasn't happened in awhile and is becoming less likely all the time.

Yeah, until titles are thought of as tournaments in the golf or tennis sake we'll never get out of this rut. Politics will mean that we'll always have different belts, but truth being truth champions should be able to fight 4 times a year.
