    huge sale
    fire sale, actially

larger men throw harder punches as the general rule
largerr men take better punches as the general rule

you dont even need to box to understand what i'm talking about (though it helps)

go punch the biggest guy in the bar
    then the smallest

    and compare the damage

then take the best shot of the biggest guy in the bar
    and then the smallest
    and compare the damage

go around to a bunch of bars and compare your results and you'll actually be doing research instead of just spitting purple nonsense over a computer

truely exceptional athletes can posess tremendous punching power that can bend these rules (smaller guys punching harder than outright larger guys)

but they are not the standard

if you dont think bigger men throw and take better punches you dont have A CLUE what you are talking about

why the **** does our sport have weigth classes?

While there have always been rumours of a dive and it is certainly an unusual result in the context of their careers, there is no direct evidence of that. Dempsey himself denied it was a fix. I am sceptical about the result however it's possible he was just caught cold by a much more experienced fighter.

As to the topic, I suppose you could also ask how many all-time great heavyweights were KO'd by a 42-1 outsider, or lost their title to an opponent who'd had 7 professional fights, or lost their title to a light-heavyweight, or quit on their stool, or were knocked down six times in two rounds, or went through their entire reign without facing their top challenger. They all have their cross to bear in one way or another.

Best examples i can think of are vitali and wladimir

wlad was kayod by ross purity in '98
and corrie sanders and lamon brewster respectively in '04 and '05

vitali (though not acdtually knocked out in the proverbial sense)
was stopped once on a badly blown shoulder to chris byrd
and once on cuts to lennox lewis

You amaze me evertime you post. you are a very good poster with an excellent point. Not everyone is perfect.

But on topic Dempsey's fight with Jim Flynn comes to mind.

Neither are ATG's especially Vitali who 0 very good wins on his resume

David Haye will probably be the biggest name on there if they beat him and that says a lot in my view..

Jack Johnson was KO'd early by HOFer Joe Choynski and a clubfighter named John Haynes (nicknamed "Klon***e" and which he later avenged.) Though both of these were pre prime, plus he got stopped early later in his career as he was pushing 50.

Spoken like a true meathead who probably never used a brain cell in his life. By your standard Primo Carnera was the GOAT of punchers.....when, of course, he couldn't "bust an egg with a hammer". Try actually turning your brain on (assuming you actually HAVE one).

Weight classes exist because in theory a heavy man can absorb greater punishment than a lighter man.....NOT because the bigger man punches harder. In theory a heavier man can also use his greater weight to wear down a lighter man.

See, the problem with meatheads like you is that you can only see things through simplistic "**** 'N Jane" concepts. Boxing is reduced to a matter of "who hits harder", when in truth there's a lot more to it then that and who hits harder is the LEAST important of those factors.

I recommend that you actually know WTF you're before you open your cumdumpster Junior :loser9:
