I don't know if he's rusty or shot but that was a pathetic display last night. The only reason I didn't ****ing cut Bob Arum myself was because of the Arce fight.

Id always fancied a Pavlik vs Kessler fight but if Kelly cant produce 10x better than that at SMW then theres not much point coz it will be a slaughter.

Pavlik - washed up or just shaking off the rust?

May be washed up I have watched all his fights that I can find. His work rate has not been very good since the first Taylor fight. I watched maybe 10 or so fights before the Taylor fights and he was more active and did not get tired the way he has in his fights since against Rubio, Espino, Hopkins, Martinez, and Lopez. Pavlik has drank away his prime I believe and possibly effected it with other drugs. He was asked ago how rehab went and he said" I am not going to touch on it".

Lopez made things ugly by holding or running most of the fight. But Pavlik had no good answer and I was supriesed he did not use the upper cuts more like he did vs Espino who also crowded Pavlik.

And a Pavlik-Kessler fight would be a cracker, believe it. They're both offensive fighters with good power (although Pavlik didn't have much pop on anything last night). I like Kessler to win, though, he has more technical wrinkles to his game and throws straighter punches. They're both very fundamental technicians and they don't change much up, should be pretty easy to predict what happens. Pavlik has his moments but Kessler is the superior technician and that's the difference. 8-4 type decision.

They're both pretty solid, man. Maybe now it doesn't go the distance but neither one has the power to keep the other down in his prime.

Everyone dumped on Margarito's comeback fight last year, but he looked 10x as good as Pavlik did. There was no snap on his punches and no focused attack. I'm wondering if he is just much more ordinary above 160.

I have read quite a bit about Pavlik and I think its the drinking. He owns his own bar called the "13th round" and he is seen all the time playing darts and pool and drinking.

He also does not train all year round like he should his excuse according to him it would just make his weight cutting more difficult because of muscle mass, which is bs. He chews tabaco also which is likely not a good idea. He is just not that committed of boxer.

Dunno like, I think Mikkel has enough fire power to hurt and stop a prime Pavlik, think how bad Jermain had him hurt first time

I missed Maracheato's return (on purpose) but i can quite believe that. Perhaps his performance was so weak due to a combination of things, his opponent was very cagey, tied him up alot and generally fought in a style Pavlik struggles with, his opponent may have been better than we thought after all he was undefeated. Also the weight and the rust so all in mabey he deserves a break but i have a feeling he isnt gonna be one of the elite SMW's
