Fantasy fights that cross eras belong on the Fantasy Fight forum, not here in history.

You want to match-up Ali-Foreman in a 1975 rematch, then that's a 'what if' history and one can flesh it out with a reasonable argument, one way or the other.

But there is no point in matching Benny Leonard with Roberto Duran. If you do, you have no choice, (if one wishes to ne honest, as you did) and include such a disclaimer.

That isn't historical interpretation it's just fantasy jerking off.

How about Monzon-Hagler fight? Now that's a fantasy fight one can discuss without it sounding silly.
We agree and disagree. The cross-era match is more problematical, but still history-section-worthy IMO. I believe it is a psychological reality that all people naturally visualize cross-era fantasy matches taking place in the present, unless otherwise stipulated. But for the most part, their knowledge and understanding of a different era's gestalt is insufficient to make the adjustment adequately. Their paltry efforts bear paltry fruits. That is why I believe a history section is the only place for such matches, not over with the gamers in the fantasy section.

Boxing has evolved so much since the era of Stanley Ketchel. You can't even compare these guys to modern fighters. Marvin Hagler would destroy Ketchel

If Hagler had come along the same time as Ketch, a level playing field, then it's a tough fight.
I see Hagler getting roughed up as much as Stanley. Marvin s chin keeps him in the fight, he stops Ketch in 12 brutal rounds.
