This is about power not speed but I'd agree if it was speed and Taylor had average power. Valero was a big puncher no doubt but we never got to see his power get tested against world class competition, I don't think he should be mentioned alongside great punchers like Louis, Jackson, Hearns etc.

Good calls, the Gman and Jackson were insanely strong punchers.

Valero's destruction of Pitlua was enough for me. I believe Pitlua said he had not been knocked down since the 90s. Valero put him down 3x in the 2nd round. I have never seen fighters just fold up after being hit with glancing blows that were partially blocked like they did with Valero. Also has nothing to do with his power but he was amazing with all the awkward angles he threw the left hand from.

Valero was a heavy handed hype job who's best win is over an over rated Antonio DeMarco, who himself was never very good. Valero was inaccurate and seemed to overthrow.

A guy like Prince Naseem hit much harder than Valero, with more accuracy, and he got his punches off much quicker. You could see Valero's punches coming, but he never fought anybody good that could expose him.

I agree that he does not belong in this conversation at all.

I don't have access to a list, but I do know that Sandy Saddler had over 100 KO's. Moore, Langford, and Saddler are the only ones I can think of with over 100.

Young Stribling is also on that list.

True, although many of those KO's were in the deep South against dubious opposition.
