Yep. Just waiting for someone to declare that he'd be the undisputed champion if he fought now.

In one of the worst title fights ever. He should really have been disqualified for excessive holding. Other than that he made himself a solid contender for a few years, despite starting late and being matched tough early (former top amateur James Broad on his debut). Had a dramatic come-from-behind KO against the unbeaten Frank Bruno in London, put up a good fight against Larry Holmes and KO'd a still game Mike Weaver, no mean feat, and Witherspoon (depending on what you believe about that fight). Post-Tyson he lost a disputed decision to Adilson Rodriguez in Brazil, got KO'd by Razor Ruddock and he was never a factor in the division again.

when Tyson was deemed invincible, legendary trainer Angelo Dundee pointed out to Bonecrusher Smith locking up Tyson as a blueprint on how to beat Iron Mike, of course, Smith realizes he's too slow for Tyson, Holyfield and Lewis were fully aware of these strategy and they employ in beating Tyson.

Col. Bob Sheridan's commentary on the early rounds of Lewis vs Tyson, when Lewis keeps holding (and warned) on whenever Tyson attacks, mentions it works with Bonecrusher Smith.

It certainly showed up deficiecencies in the "unbeatable" Tyson. Good fight to watch for those who liken Tyson to Frazier. Had Smith fought that way against Frazier he would have needed internal organ transplants.

Frazier was a good fighter for a cruiserweight in the heavyweight division.

I liked Smith in spite of his short comings. Watched him from the begining and thought he was entertaining. His come from behind victory over an unbeaten Bruno was one that I still remember vividly.

Smith was one of those guys that would lose and around the time you would write him off, would turn a good win or ko.
