  • Muhammad Ali vs the Big Heavyweight Greats

Im wondering if you guys consider height and weigh as much as some people do.
In my opinion Ali smokes both klitschkos and wins a UD against Lewis. Lewis won't KO Ali, and his only real advantage is the reach.. The weight and height don't matter as much.. Ali has completely neutralized a reach advantage before, like in the Liston fight. So Lewis does hit harder then Ali, but that's really about it. Ali would beat Lewis to the punch and dance around him and keep repeating that for the decision.
What do you guys think ?

I agree with a lot of your statements except I think Ali may TKO Lewis. Ali has very under-rated power, he is not a "KO artist" but, he punches hard and those wear you down. One man said " His jab is like being lashed with a rope."

I agree Ali would had enough talent to beat any heavyweight inculding big one's like Lewis and the Klitschko's. Take for instance Wayne Gretzky one of my favorite athlete's. He was only 6 foot and weighted well under 200 pounds. He was not particularly strong or fast yet he is about the greatest of all time in a full contact sport the NHL. How was he able to dominate a game with men much larger and stronger then him able to use their physicality upon him. Well in an interview Gretzky revealed some of his secrets. He admitted he could see things in slow motion. Talent like this can overcome size and strength and has more chance of being in the possession of more normal size people due to their numbers.

It's certainly possible, in a series I definitely think Ali stops him. Ali stopped some very durable guys like Foreman, Frazier, bonavena, quarry, and Liston. He might not cleanly knock him out, but he could still make him quit or make the ref stop it.

If he stops him I think it's probably after Ali has inflicted a lot of damage and has worn Lewis out. I don't think he stops Lewis early.

Lewis's reach advantage over Ali is very little. Ali's reach was reported to be between 80 and 82 inches which is a very decent statistic.......a touch better than both Klitschkos infact.

When you factor in Ali's handspeed advantage.......its not even a consideration really.

I think Lewis, Wlad and Vitali are actually pretty good heavyweights......and I do think they all give Ali decent fights, albeit not close fights to my mind. I personally wouldn't pick Ali to stop any of the three. But I'd bet my house that the best version of Ali would win decisions in each case......faster hands, faster feet, good chin and better distance stamina. Its a no brainer!

The only thing Klitshcko has over Ali is power but, Ali's chin will neutrelise that.

If they have more power than Ali, then it's by a shade.

Well... Vitali is an arm puncher and basically has most of his KOs by wearing him down.. Similar to Ali, but Ali actually stopped durable contenders and former champions.
Vitali couldn't even stop a shot Shannon Briggs... I think Ali hits harder.

Wlad I think does hit harder... For one thing he has much better technique then his brother, and has a lot more pop. You can easily see that. He still didn't stop the same guys that Ali did.

The Klitschkos have wins over Rahman, Williams, Gomez, Ibragimov and Chagaev. All great ****** heavyweights.

Ali was on another level to those guys though. I see Ali outboxing them to wide but competitive unanimous decisons.

Lewis got KTFO by Rahman. I think Ali would take Lewis to school before knocking him out.

To bad all of those guys you mentioned are lazy bums with no talent...especially Rahman SHEESH!

Not even competitive decisions if he doesn't KO them tbh. Those guys would be made fools of, especially Rahman and Williams...they were pathetic.

Lewis got ****y and caught, that fight was not the Lennox Lewis that we all know. Hence why in the rematch he nearly ripped Rahman's face the rest of the way off...
