I laughed my ass off after having watched Cinderella man and the actual James Braddock fight. At the end of that movie their is a quote allegedly from Joe Louis that is obvious made up bull**** done by the biased and borderline evil writers of the movie, Joe said that Jim Braddock was the most courageous and brave man he EVER faced in the ring. This is obvious bull ****, Louis sparked his ass out with one punch, Braddock was out cold XD Never even stood a chance, first shot Louis threw got him out of their....Anyone else notice that and think it was hilarious? Just shows how unprofessional and horrible the Cinderella man movie was, nothing but lies about Max Baer the whole damn way through....

Braddock was lucky that he fought Baer, who never used his full potential...Prime Baer would have easily maimed him in one round.

Did anyone know that Baer's right arm was numb from Novocaine during the Louis fight? His right hand was broken in training...One of only a handful of fights Baer actually took seriously...and still yet Baer almost put Louis out twice, once in the 1st and again Louis was saved by the bell in the 2nd...Would have been a awesome fight if Baer was at 100%

The part in the movie portraying Baer as a bad guy is certainly inaccurate and was done for theatrical purposes. But the part about Louis calling Braddock brave and courageous is fact that I have read in At and Edna Rusts biography of Louis and several other places. Louis held Braddock in high regard for giving him the shot at the title when he could have fought Schmeling instead.

That is ballsy, no doubt about that! But I remembered the quote at the end of the movie saying that Braddock was the bravest man Louis ever fought...which is insane given some of the beatings that were dished out in Louis' career, it was a brave era!

Agreed, but it was only Louis' personal opinion. Personally I think Carnera, based on his skills alone, was the most courageous fighter he fought. But who am I to argue with his own opinion, right?

I am pretty sure that the wording of the quote in the movie was altered to fit their crappy theme. Schmeling showed tremendous heart him their second bout by staying on his feet after Louis cracked 2 or so vertebrae in his back from a body shot, and like you said Carnera had the heart to go with his massive body. The beating he took from Baer, 11 knockdowns, who is highly regarded as on par with Shavers, was legendary!
