Ruiz isnt very good, a C class fighter at best. It's a solid win only because Jones moved up to fight him. Hill is overated, he was outboxed by a past prime ww in his prime. When Jones was originally offered the fight in 96, he turned it down, the fight would of meant something then. But when Jones did fight Hill, Hill was coming of a bad beating from Darius and hadn't fought in a a year.

Johnson also was past prime as well, far from that guy who gave Toney and Collins fits at mw.

pound for pound cannot be weight by sets of rules, your just realize one day that a fighter will win almost all boxing fans heart. and that will set the rule.

What is this realization based on?

Main thing I go for is dominance for a length of time in a division and a fighter who would rank highly all time in a particular weight division. If they have been able to go up through the weights and pick up titles at other weights then that is certainly a point in their favour too but cherry picking the weakest belt holder and ticking off titles doesn't impress me as much as some

Who would you rank higher at mw, Hopkins or hagler?

But that seems to be the norm these days Pacman comes to mind

Who would you rank higher out of Hopkins, Jones and Toney?

Both had good reigns at MW, you can level against both of them that their most famous victories were against fighters moving up in weight. I'd go for Hagler for the following 3 reasons:
                1) I favour him head to head
                2) I do believe that in his time Hagler was the best MW out there whereas I'd favour Jones over Hopkins in his time.
                3) I think that the current weigh in rules really helped Hopkins stay at MW for so long, he is a big fellow and I think with same day weigh ins he would have grown out of the division long term.

                Be some fight though!

For talent I think Toney should have been the best of all of them but he let himself down IMO. If I had to pick one of the 3 to bet my life on getting a verdict i'd probably favour Hopkins but I'd have to split them head to head and I'd go with Jones. Whatever the ins and outs of Toney's condition Jones beat him decisively and ignoring the recent farce of a "legends" fight Jones beat Hopkins decisively in the first fight.

                      First question
I still have a lot of Hagler fights to watch, but I reckon his oppoition was better than Hopkins. i would also favor him in a h2h matchup
                      Second question
Im not sure what criteria to use
Toney has faces: pressure fighters(jirov), punchers(barkley), slick defensvie fighters(nunn, Johnson)
Hopkins: never faced a decent puncher, pressure fighter or decent southy
Jones: Never faced a decent puncher, pressure fighter. Did fight reggie Johnson but he was way past his best

So in terms of how they would handle other styles i would have to go with Toney
resume wise I think Jones, hopkins then Toney
                      h2h Jones, Toney, Hopkins
