Louis ended up broke because he was screwed by the US Government. Whether he would have gone broke anyway is debatable, but it is a fact that Louis lost huge sums of money to the government for doing selfless and good deeds for his country.

Marciano was a true Heavyweight in the 50s. Its true by today's standard's he is not. But back in the 50s he was fighting the biggest and the best. 6 fights against all time greats never losing a fight.

People are bigger now days because of consecutive generations of good nutrition.

Don't think the signs were good for him, can't remember the details but I think his management team seriously screwed up his tax situation regarding deferred taxation. The war exhibition bouts certainly added to his problems but I think he was heading for the poor house anyway. Also Joe loved to spend and bet money. Unfortunately Louis wasn't the first boxer to not figure out that the money he was earning had to last him the rest of his life and unfortunately won't be the last. It's always easier to name boxers who did hang on to their hard earned. Marciano did but unfortunately for his family it's buried somewhere!

Re the thread is that top 50 pfp or top 50 at HW?
Through the ages and weights there have been a lot of great fighters so maybe you could name 50 fighters in total better than Marciano but at HW, no chance
