Rocky Marciano: Not even top 50 ATG

When you look at those old fights and even the photo's of those guys, there is no way Marciano was 5'11. Or Louis 6'2.
They usually add an inch or two to help bill the fight. Marciano always looked 5'9 or so and Louis about 5'11 maybe 6 feet tall.
I agree with the premise of the thread as well, Marciano wasn't that good, just tough and lucky that the division was in a transitional period for him to play the role of scavenger.
He wouldn't fare well against the 70's HW's much less the Klitschko's who would absolutely lay waste to him.
I do think the Klits would have a good shot against him, because of their long reach and good-enough footwork to stay away, They would NOT KO him and it would NEVER be a blow out...They just don't have the power or ability to put those punches together to end it. They are horribly overrated due to the fact all they have to fight are obese 50 year olds and 9000 year old war veterans...Comment

I would say that if their ever was a time to want to be Heavyweight champion, it is TODAY, with this division, it is the weakest one overall I have ever seen, I highly doubt their is anyone in it that has the punch to get rid of Rocky. In the 70s you have Foreman, probably the biggest mismatch in history (Marciano-Foreman), Ali who can just stay away from Rocky's short punches, and several other really great matches for him but Rocky still fights his ass off against them all, something that just doesn't happen in today's division...

Regardless, you think Vitali hits as hard as Tyson, and to a lesser extent if you think Wlad does. Who has he KOed? Noone of interest...How many one punch KOs has either of them had over their overblown bums? Hardly any...Even Wlad, the big hitter of the two, took 7 rounds to TKO probably the worst heavyweight champion ever, Hasim Rahman...Lennox Lewis KOed him in 4 rounds, with one punch that ripped his face open...some 7 years before...Look at the effect the Klits punches have on the opponents, and look at some of the sick **** Prime Tyson did to people...Watch them both in training, I have seen many a hard hitting Middleweight hit harder than either of the Klits(Jeff Lacy, Jackson, Mcclellan), and Jackson was even more devastating than Tyson for one hit power...Now imagine what any truly devastating puncher could do to this division...Bring 50 something year old George back!Last edited by JAB5239; 10-21-2010, 01:26 AM.Comment
