That is true. The shoulder roll defense isn't very effective against left hooks, from the southpaw stance

Ater Hagler dismissed his ego in the later part of the leonard fight, he was able to do much better. He was a much more cerebral fighter than people make him out to be a brawler

Can you tell me any fights, were Leonard made an adjustment mid way through it?

Leonard vs Duran. Leonard opted for a hit and run style the second time around. A good decision.

Prob more of a stance issue. The roll is harder to use against southpaws. Having the left low doesn't allow the short sharp hooks over the top of the right jab.

It also hard to defend against left hooks from the southpaw stance. Toney would start to include a lot of upper body movement in his defense when he started fighting southpaws later in his career, see Jirov and Robinson fights

What fights would you recommend?

I'll have to look through my library but pay close attention in hagler hearns. Hagler didn't just wildly swing. He picked all of his shots with controlled agrression and pressure.
