  • Fighters who could make adjustments in the ring

Mayweather: Used the high guard defense against Judah and Corley, before that he was using the shoulder roll defense. After figuring out Hatton started to catch him coming in with right hand leads.

Calzaghe: Against Hopkins, he started to make a point of slipping Hopkins right hand counters from round 2 onwards,

Jmm:When he fought Pac he tried to use the high guard defense to defend against Pac's straight left, after round two he started to slip it and come back with counters to the head and body

Can anyone here add anymore examples?

Marvin Hagler was incredibly versatile and shown it in many fights.

Can you give an example of an adjustment he made in a fight?

Sure, in the Briscoe fight Hagler was fighting on the backfoot for the first half using his agility to box and move, in the 2nd half / late rounds he began to pick his moments of when to move inside Briscoe and do some damage there and get back to boxing until he could find his moment again to get inside.

Ater Hagler dismissed his ego in the later part of the leonard fight, he was able to do much better. He was a much more cerebral fighter than people make him out to be a brawler

Ray Leonard had tremendous ring instincts. Ali too.

Could this be because those two opponents were southpaws!!

Leonard vs Duran. Leonard opted for a hit and run style the second time around. A good decision.

Prob more of a stance issue. The roll is harder to use against southpaws. Having the left low doesn't allow the short sharp hooks over the top of the right jab.
