It was painful watching Barrera expose 'that' Hamed in what 2001? Prime Hamed would have done so much better.

I'm actually a big Barrera fan, I really like his fight with McKinney and the first with Morrales, a proper warrior and his gameplan for 'that' Hamed really gained my respect.

I think a four round victory for Hamed might be a little optimistic, I think Barrera learned alot from the Jnr Jones fights, but hand on heart.....I think prime for prime, Naseem Hamed wins that fight.
i am the opposite to you in that i have never been a Barrera fan i feel he is over rated and his win over Naz more to do with Naz being over the hill than any game plan of Berrera's, i thought Barrera was very fortunate indeed to get the nod in any of his fights with Morales and i was not surprised when he was hammered by Pacquiao although i had not seen any fights of Pacquiao at that time i was not surprised he beat Barrera as the British press talked as if Barrera was the best fighter in the world which was over exaggerated in my opinion, Berrera's constant complaining in his KO loss to Pacquiao was a clear indication in my book that he could never deal with adversity

I'm a little suprised, I thought that Barrera would be just your type of fighter. Fast, aggressive, exciting. I felt that he should have got the nod in the first Morales fight but that Morales should have got the nod in the second. I thought the third was definitely Barerra.....but at that time Morales was giving the odd subpar performance.

As for Barrera's dealing with adversity. I sort of know what you mean, he did get a bit funny with complaints in the first Jones fight and in the first Pac fight. He of course was favorite to beat them first time round. His confidence could be rocked when the opponents turned out to be better than expected. It didn't happen often though......and never in rematches, he did much better in rematches with Jones and Pac.....I dont think he had this problem when he was 'up' for the fight. He certainly wasn't cowardly, he fought just about every dangerous pound for pound opponent around his weight (often more than once, even when post prime).

When he was really up for fights..........McKinney, Morales, Hamed......he was terrific. McKinney and Morales gave him some serious adversity without complaint.

I'm suprised you didn't enjoy these fights.

Sugarj.. not for a second do i think Barrera is cowardly he was a world class operator who like you say fought at the very highest level and against the very best opponents, yet we all have certain fighters we can name who just do not appeal to our psych as much as others do and its a case that Barrera was that fighter for me.
