Who do you rate as the best Mexican fighter.
I'm with Olivares with Sanchez a close second THEN JCC.

thats nuts. JCC was rated #1 in the world for a long time and has a huge list of good wins over multiple weight classes and over multiple world champions, which include wins over 2 of the universally recongnised fastest fighters of all time and one of the p4p hardest punchers of all time.

Olivares and Sanchez were excellent fighters, but they flat out didnt have the career of a JCC.(although Sanchez could have surpassed him if he hadnt been in that accident).

I agree with you mate about the longlivity of Chavez's career I have to admit lol I'm just trying to annoy my mate who is a massive Chavez fan lol.

I'd probably realistically have Chavez top then it depends wether you take Sanchez' POTENTIAL into account where he ranks. Possibly #1

the amazing thing about Sanchez is that despite his short time as champion, he was able to beat Little Red Lopez twice, Ruben Castillo, Juan LaPorte,(all very impressive wins) and then ends up having two wins over ATGs as well, in Wilfredo Gomez and Azumah Nelson!

he had such huge wins in such a short amount of time. it was crazy. and yet he struggled with guys like Patrick Ford and Pat Cowdell.

so Im not entirely sure how much farther he would have gone, yet at the same time his record was already so good it wouldnt have taken him much more to cement him as the #1 Mexican fighter of all time. so its hard to guage.

Sal Sanchez is someone who would have benefitted from fights lasting longer than 15 rounds. He always was a lot better late fight.

Hamed made 15 defences at featherweight.

He had the power of a middlweight. Thats why hes the greatest Brit imo.

I was wondering if Wilde should be distinguised as Welch? Same with Calzaghe. Being an American I will defer to those from the UK to answer.

Wales is part of Britain, would be better to split it into the different countries I suppose, so

                  Wales - Wilde
                  England - 'Kid' Lewis
                  Scotland - Lynch
                  Ireland - ?
A lot of greats are connected to Ireland but few are directly from there, would be difficult to choose some of them.

For fighters born in northern ireland its a small list :-(

Northern Ireland - Jimmy McLarnin (born in County Down NI, moved to canada when he was 3). Although i'm only going on what ive read about him. Wins over Barny Ross, Young Corbett and an ancient benny leonard cant be too bad.
