McCallum was a very good fighter yet now that he is 50yrs old he has taken to claiming that Marvin Hagler avoided him which is simply not true, i can never recall McCallum ever being in a position to fight Marvin Hagler and if he had been i would have taken Hagler to defeat him.

I seen that interview he claims that Hagler turned a blind eye when the possibility of a Hagler-McCallum fight came up. Maybe there was talk after the Mugabi fight, but Hagler was thinking of retiring by that point
I wish it happened, that would of been fight of the decade. Hagler by UD

I like McCallum as a fighter, one of the most underrated in my opinion. With wins against Curry, Graham and agruably Kalamby he has doen very well. Iron chin and as his name suggests and excellent body puncher.
He moved up to Middleweight in 1988 (and failed to capture a title) and Hagler retired in 1987, so saying Hagler ducked him made absolutely no sense at all and besides Hagler didn't duck no-one.
If they did fight which could possibly happen if he beat SRL, I reckon Hagler winning a UD with Mccallum having good moments in the fight but, nothing severly troubling him.
        Hagler 7-5 UD.

Maybe when he was at jmw he asked Hagler to give him a shot.

I also think that Hagler would of been too strong for him and winning by a ud as well

Very good fighter and underated by many. He is a gentleman outside of the ring and was a regular ringsider at many a british fight venue.

Met him on several occasions in the 90's at various big fights. I must have at least four different fight programs with his autograph in.

Would of been good to have seen him fight Benn and Eubank. Everyone knows Eubanks biggest weakness was his body and McCallum would have severly tested him in that department.

Possibly but, Why would you ask a full fledged middleweight to fight at a weight below just to suit you? If you want to be the Champ it should be YOU making the sacrafices.

McCallum was a great fighter, highly underrated both then and now. He is the only opponent who James Toney speaks respectfully of. A master boxer-puncher.

I meant he was willing to move up to fight Hagler. Hagler often called out guys at jmw to move up to face him

He was a great fighter, a true throwback fighter, his style reminds me a bit of Walcott and Charles style
