It was a combination of 2 factors :
    (1) Honeyghan's use of his head.
    (2) Curry's difficulty of making the 147 lbs limit for the last time ..

A great fighter can get away with overlooking an average opponent, not so much with a genuine talent.

Honeyghan fought a brilliant tactical fight against Curry. He set a terrific pace and never set a predictable pattern for a master boxer like Curry to eventually figure out.He fought in a very aggressive manner, but it was controlled, educated aggression - not the bumbling, fumbling type that Ricky Hatton tried to use against Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

The Honeyghan from the Starling and Breland fights was not the same man who showed up at Atlantic City and beat up Curry. That's not to say he has an easy time with either of them, but he doesn't get dominated and humiliated the way he was against those guys in his prime.

The way he fought Starling is one of the most tactically ****** fights that I've ever seen fought at such a world class level.Honeyghan despised Starling and fought like a man on emotion rather than a world champion prize fighter.

A headbutt is one of the hardest punches delivered in boxing fights.
          (2) It was Curry's last fight at 147 for some reason , additionally I read he had trouble making the weight , I think I also heard it in the fight's commentation as well.

so you think he just got curry at the right time and that his cheating had much to do with victory?

But there is an old saying ibn boxing "box a puncher, punch a boxer". On that partuclar night, Donald Curry tried to punch with a puncher!
Good sense, look at the way Starling outboxed and beat Honeyghan. Curry has the ability to do that and Honghan was not the type of fighter to try to knockout.

With a referee who enforces the rules and at a weight above 147 , Curry would have either won by a stoppage , or a disqualification.
