Burley had hand trouble throughout his career or he would have been a much bigger puncher in my opinion. Considering as a middleweight he laid heavyweight contender Elmer "Violent" Ray out cold in sparring with one punch when Ray was trying to man handle and embarrass him tells us much about Burley's true power.

Very highly. He showed this in smashing down Ray, stopping Turner with punches in just a few rounds and bouncing Williams up and down like a yo-yo in one of their fights.

He was also a terrible finisher, I fear. A combination of caution, economy and arguably a lack of the real killer instinct that finishes a great puncher kept his KO% to 50. Rating him as a puncher in composite terms is extremely difficult, but in terms of power, he hit very very hard.

Burley bounced Archie Moore down a couple times when getting notice of the fight THE DAY OF THE FIGHT while he was at work.

Burley actually had more notice than generally give credit. Otty even managed to dig up a program printed up a few days in advance advertising the fight.

Williams certainly could hit and so could Tiger. But yes,I think Tiger gets overrated as a pure puncher all the time, unquestionably whether or not I'm a fan of him, this is how I see it,and in terms of what is on film and in statistics,my thoughts tend to be borne out.If you punch fast all you will do is hurt your elbow or shoulder.I mean honestly the only time you ever hear of lifting weights fast is from ignorant people, weights are meant to be done slow.

Damn advertisers...last week they were just copying a random previous post from threads then reposting it to advertise...now their just making up off topic bull...

i mean if they just said stuff about tiger and williams what ever... but not only claiming that punching fast and lifting explosively is wrong but to claim those that do it are ignorant well thats just..... ignorant.
