I doubt Satterfield ever made a lot of money, but because of his fan friendly style Im sure he wasn't starving either. Sad thing is a fighter like that would be cast to the wayside and ridiculed today. No room nowadays for a fighter who losses that often.

Jack Dempsey made more money than anyone in the 1920's if you adjust for inflation. His chin was hidden for the most part due to 3 year vacations, 4 round farces and his ducking of an entire race.
