Nah, even if he never came back I think his claim to fame would be beating on ali for several rounds, gassing and then getting knocked out.

But I think his claim to fame is still the comeback. The Holyfield fight was priceless and also the Moore KO was badass.

In his prime Foreman was fearless and feared, everybody thought he would kill Ali, Ali was the only boxer who knew how to beat Foreman and he did. Foreman had so much power its was scary, i also think he was one of the most dangerous boxer that you could face. He also won a gold medal in the olympic games in 1968.

He also destroyed prime Ken Norton in 2 rounds and is one of two fighters to stop George Chuvalo. The other being Joe Frazier. Foreman was no joke. There is a reason why he was favored to beat Ali. It's not only that he beat Frazier, it's the way he beat him.

Well, it wasn't George Foreman's only claim to fame. I'd say winning the heavyweight title from Joe Frazier, losing it to Ali, then losing to Jimmy Young, making a comeback and becoming the oldest heavyweight champion in boxing history after regaining the title were also claims to fame.

And he went into the olympic games with only 19 amatuer fights!

And won the gold medal by KO over a russian in the finals.

Yes,Joe Frazier was the best fighter that George Foreman beat. But it is in the fashion that he beat Frazier that really makes it stick out.
