I think Mosley had the perfect style to beat De La Hoya because of his speed and long right hand. Oscar struggled alot in both fights because normally he could just keep you at bay with his jab and land power shots off it but it was much harder with Mosley because Shane was faster and could counter his jab with the right hand.

If you watch the first fight, Oscar looked really confused in the early rounds. This was because Mosley would always come in and out, in and out. And Oscar couldnt time him like he did with other opponents.

Another one has to be Fabrice Tiozzo and Virgil Hill. Fabrice had a pretty good career winning the WBC and WBA Light Heavyweight titles along with the WBA Cruiserweight title. He beat world champions Mike McCallum, Dariusz Michalczewski, Silvio Branco, Nate Miller, Eric Lucas and Leslie Stewart. Along with this he also became European and French champion, But he couldnt get the better of Virgil Hill. Losing the first fight by split decision and the 2nd by 1st round TKO after being knocked down 3 times.

I have both fights on DVD. Need to watch them soon...

I don't get this. You say a bunch of fights that actually happened and that you know the guys were made for because you saw it happen (and which you might have picked otherwise but now change) but Barkley and Maske? It never happened unlike the others, so what makes you say that?

I dont understand your point but I will try and explain. Barkley was a come forward brawler with alot of power but little boxing intelligence. Maske was a very intelligent, tall southpaw who just layed back and picked off everything he did and beat him up to the point where Barkley's corner had to stop the fight for his own safety.

I'm too young to have seen the fight when it actually happened, I watched it about a month or two ago. But having seen the fight, Barkley was the kind of fighter who was made for a fighter like Henry Maske.

The contrast in styles was so different, Barkley's aggressive, come forward style was perfect for Maske because he was very intelligent, calculating, had good defence and was the naturally bigger man. If you watch that fight you will see what I mean, Barkley looked like an amatuer. And it was just 2 years after he had beaten the legendary Thomas Hearns.

Styles make fights, Mosley didnt look as good the second time. You can put that down to Oscar making adjustments (which he did) but you can also put it down to Mosley coming off 2 losses to Forrest and fighting at 154 for just the 2nd time in his career. Either way, I think Mosley's style was ideal for beating a guy like De La Hoya who used his height and reach to his advantage because Shane has very long arms for his size.
