On the assumption that he had found a way to neutralize that punch, I could see the fight playing out similar to Jones-Tarver I, when the fight was in the middle of the ring. Jones would of used his feints and decoys to get Tarver out of position, then pot-shotted him or hit him with well timed counters. It would of also been in his interest to constantly circle to Tarver's right, away from Tarver's power hand

Jones was through the moment he dropped down again to lightheavyweight! So Tarver would have got to hin sooner or later in that bout. At heavyweight Jones weighed 195 pounds and was solid with little body fat. You can't lose 20 pounds without losing muscle mass if you are already trim. But Jones might have made a foolish decision droppong all the way bact to 175 but Jones was always challenging himself thinking he could do whatever he wanted dispite the advice he heard. Wheither it was wearing a sound wire during a title fight or playing a semi pro basketball game the same day he had to defend his title. Jones figured he could defy the odds and it backfired.
When Jones announced he was moving all the way back down to 175 I predicted he was going to be ko'd! I even predicted Tarver would destroy him before the fight even though everyone thought I was crazy! I just seen fighters move down in weight to many times over the years and meet with simular results. But even if I could have talked to Jones before he did, he wouldn't have listened.
Because Jones was always challenging himself thinking he could do whatever he wanted dispite the advice he heard!

He dominated in the middle of the ring, but was at a disadvantage when the fight was against the ropes. (His stamina would of been better than before so he wouldn't of had to take rest breaks)

There is a good chance that Jones-Johnson would of played out the same way ,even if Jones had got past Tarver II. Maybe with Johnson winning by UD instead of ko
