  • Joe Frazier Had a Glass Chin?

Glass jawed Joe couldn't stand up to a real heavyweight puncher
I find this comment quite strange because when frazier fought foreman he was knocked down six times, but he also got up six times and recovered fairly quickly.

Why wasn't Frazier knocked out in that fight if he had a glass chin? It doesn't make any sense.

It's not surprising that a puncher like goerge foreman is capable of knocking the majority of fighters down/out, but that doesn't mean they have glass chins.

Is there any evidence that frazier has been hurt by a feather fisted fighter?

    I await your responses..............

After the Ali-Frazier “Fight of the Century” another notable world title bout Mercante refereed was the clash between Joe Frazier and his challenger George Foreman in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1973. The conqueror of Ali was absolutely destroyed by Foreman inside two rounds, going down six times before Mercante called a halt. In terms of one-sidedness the difference between this and the Johansson bout in Mercante’s mind was that Frazier “was up and ready to go when I stopped the fight”.

Prinze has every right to claim Frazier had a suspect chin.

Joe Frazier fought in an era with some of the biggest punchers the Heavyweight division had ever seen. How many of those devastating punchers did he fight?

    Answer: 1

And we all know what happened on both occasions. If Frazier fought another massive puncher, the chances are he would get dropped multiple times.

Yeah, because there are plenty of fighters who hit as hard as George Foreman.

that doesn't prove anything though. George foreman could do that to the majority of fighters because he was one of the hardest hitters ever.

Do they all have glass chins then?

Or is it a testament to foreman's punching power?

I think the latter is the more reasonable explanation

The only proof that ****** has is that Foreman dropped him. Who the **** cares? He's one of the hardest punchers ever so of course he has the power to take somebody off their feet. Not only that it was a bad style match up.

But Frazier got up every single time recovered. So this glass chin **** is just old & bull****. He has no proof whatsoever. Anyone who says this is a ****ing ****** and should be stoned to death for being such a ******.

              Answer 1 .. is WRONG

Frazier fought Bonavena (Twice) who was a rugged two-fisted brawler and a tough fight for any fighter, Oscar could also punch he very nearly knocked out Muhammad Ali in the 10th round of their fight.

Frazier fought Quarry (Twice) who was a great counter-puncher and who punched hard enough to knock out Earnie Shavers in one round something Holmes, Ali & Norton never came close to doing.. Quarry hit hard enough to KO Mac Foster, Thad Spencer & Jack Bodell.

George Chuvalo - who was a World-Class tough guy who punched hard enough to knock-out Quarry, Manuel Ramos, Doug Jones, Yvon Durrell & Mike DeJohn.

Bob Foster - one of the hardest punchers who ever lived was bombed-out in less than 2rds by Smokin Joe.

Frazier vs Foreman (1) is regarded as the most brutal punching display in the history of boxing yet Frazier was up on his feet ready to go after the 6th knock down which is a true testament to his cast iron chin... Did Ken Norton, Gerry Cooney, Michael Moorer or Ron Lyle take the punches Frazier took and beat the count.

i think joes chin was glass also

only other guy who could fall into the puncher group on that list is bonavena, who also put smokin joe down

lol @ tryin to sneak bob foster in there.yall guys will try anything
as far as foreman, that fight shoulda been stopped after the 2nd knockdown when joe started walking backwards

Joe Frazier could absorb an unheavenly amount of punches over fifteen rounds and not even be properly staggered. See the first Ali fight!

And he was crazy enough to face Foreman 'twice' and repeatedly get up after being knocked down what? Six times. The man always got up!!!! Some have been questioning Frazier's lack of facing big punchers, but tell me another fighter who fought prime Foreman twice! I dont remember Ken Norton jumping up and down for a second match, sorry beating.

In the first Foreman fight Frazier was hit and dropped by savage uppercuts and even one full blooded shot to the back of the head!! Did he moan or ***** to the ref or take five minutes off? No! The man got ready for the next fusilade of punishment.

He was knocked down repeatedly, but its arguable as to whether he was ever dazed beyond his senses or was falling all over the ring. If anyone has boxed/sparred and has suffered knockdowns in quick succession, believe me.......it really exhausts you to get up, you get a big adrenaline rush which makes your legs feel shaky! Six times is a testiment to Joe's chin and recuperative powers. If Frazier was a defensive boxer in the manner of an Ali, Holmes or Young he may have survived by moving, circling, tying up. But the man was a face first warrior.

Could other big punchers have stopped Frazier in the manner of Foreman? Possibly! But its much less likely, lets face it, Foreman was a bit of a one-off!

Lyle and Shavers hit hard, but neither had the sort of chin that could take Frazier's repeated left hooks.
