    Thanks.
Salvador had a great title reign, stopping three great HOF fighters-Danny Lopez, Wilfredo Gomez, and Azumah Nelson. At the time of his death, there is no way he would of fought Arguello because Alexis was already a 140 pound fighter. Instead, he would have fought Bazooka Limon, Bobby Chacon or Sammy Serrano. He would have been 130 pound champ and dominated that division if he would have lived.

I don't know how successful he would have been moving up in weight at that time - the 15 round fight, his bread and butter, would soon be banned by the WBC (who Sanchez was the titleholder for), and there was talk of a match with Arguello which I don't think he would have won. Would have still been an atg most likely.
Alexis was already at 140 pounds when Sanchez died. He had just ko'd Kevin Rooney, who was a 147 pound fighter

I'm just repeating what I've heard, there was talk of the two fighting.

The guy beat a prime Wilfredo Gomez. Among the Featherweights, I would rank him #4 All-Time. He defeated Gomez (undefeated on 33-0, with 33 KOs!, having been the undisputed world Bantamweight Champion with 18 consecutive defences by Knock-Out), Azumah Nelson (undefeated on 16-0 with 13 KOs) and several other Featherweight/Super Bantamweight legends. I would favour him (slightly) against Arguello if he had moved up to Junior Lightweight, assuming he maintained effectiveness. At the same weight and age, he might have struggled with Aaron Pryor, but once he reached his prime I can see him handling Pryor quite easily (TKO in Round 13-14).

Maybe around late 1980, early 1981. They both defended their titles against Castillo in 1980, but Sanchez being a Don King fighter, it was easier to make a fight with Gomez. By the time Gomez and Sanchez fought in 1981, Arguello had already won the WBC 135 pound title. I would have loved to see them two fight each other.
