  • Salvador Sanchez

Salvador Sanchez died at a very young age of 22 years old of a car accident way before he even started reaching his peak. What if Salvador Sanchez did not have that fatal car accident and continued his boxing career, how far do you think would he have gone?Would he have been able to win the Super Featherweight division if he went up in weight after a few more fights in the Featherweight division and then, the Lightweight division afterwards?
    Thanks.

He died at 23, actually. I don't know how successful he would have been moving up in weight at that time - the 15 round fight, his bread and butter, would soon be banned by the WBC (who Sanchez was the titleholder for), and there was talk of a match with Arguello which I don't think he would have won. Would have still been an atg most likely.

I have #2 right behind JCC as the greatest Mexican fighter ever. I think if he would not have died so young. He would of been the greatest fighter to come out of Mexico.

Why do you feel he was a little overrated?

Granted IMO every fighter can be overrated and underrated just depending on who is doing the rating I suppose.

The greatest Mexican fighter of all time, if anybody is overrated it's JCC Sr.
