So because an old, alcoholic, drug addict Chavez quit on his stool, a prime, indomitable Chavez would too? Do you actually watch boxing?

                    Thanks.
Objectively, this is a very hard fight to judge. I wonder how many of you have all of Duran's fights as well as Chavez' fights on DVD. Well I do, and at lightweight, Chavez was a fighter that was more complete than Duran - too many people remember Chavez after he fought Melderick Taylor, the fighter who drew to Pernell and who lost to DLH, the Chavez that just walked straight in and basically had no head/body movement - but not the young Chavez who would box, have superior defensive and offensive talent, as well as being an excellent counter-puncher. This Chavez was superior to Duran at lightweight in all facets except power. They were equal in technique and stamina, but Chavez had an edge in infighting and defense.
I personally think Chavez would have beat Duran b/c Duran would have loved to fight on the inside with Chavez where Chavez would have had the edge.
As to you who think Duran would TKO or KO Chavez, you are being as delusional as all the pacman fans who think that pacman could beat a prime DLH and Mosley. Chavez could take a punch, and he could have taken Duran's punches for sure. Chavez' chin was like granite. Remember how many power punches Trinidad landed on Mayorga and he still couln't drop him? Same thing can be said for Chavez except he had superior defense and would obviously not take many flush punches.
If they had fought at welterweight, where Duran obviously became the intelligent fighter that carried him throughout the rest of his career, then he would have beaten Chavez for sure.

the infighting displayed in this fight would have been pure beauty. Off the top of my head I cant think of a more solid, technically perfect infighting matchup than this.

Duran, while not always a destroyer on the inside, was very methodical and efficient, landing his punches and then tying up to stop his opponents momentum. and because of Duran's excellent defense and superior ability to fight on the outside, he would be able to beat Chavez.

Expect a fight somewhat along the lines of Duran-Palomino, except Chavez being much more effective than Palomino on the inside and the fight in general being more competitive.
Likely one of those fights where Duran wins a pretty fair majority of the rounds, yet the two way action in the fight would be much closer than the scorecards suggested.
