To boxing boy , TheDreamer :
You keep ignoring my statements about how the fight would have happened in the ring it happened had the ropes just been tighter.
    And to boxing boy :
You keep throwing even wilder speculations with even less relation to the actual fight that happened .
All I speculate about is exactly the same conditions that were there barring one thing : the ropes.
Your spculations involve more changes , and you ignore my reminder about the law of conservation of energy.
What you regard is a different question than the one in this thread.

I told you that Muhammad Ali was not hurt the entire fight, not once.

So if he was not even hurt one time with the ropes loose,I don't see him getting hurt very much even with the ropes tight.Ali took Ernie Shavers hardest punches again and again,so i don't see George hurting him much even with tighter ropes.I just answered your question.

I told you that Muhammad Ali was FIGHTING off the ropes!! So he would still be FIGHTING off the ropes even if they were tight.Ali was fighting off the ropes, instead of laying on the ropes(Save the 5th round) as you make it sound.Again, with the ropes tight he would still be landing good clean hard punches to the face and head.I just answered your question.

So there would be little difference if the ropes were tighter.I just told you why in the above paragraphs. How many times do you want me to tell you?

Alright, now you tell us all how the fight would have went if the ropes were tighter? Just remember to take into account what i just posted above!

Ali fought on the ropes and you yourself admit he layed on them in the 5th , and do I have to tell you that every round is critical ?

Ali would not have been able to absorb the punches he took so well , his movement would have been restricted by the tighter ropes so I guess he would not have even tried to do what he did , he would have tried to dance away , but George would have cut the ring well on him and punish him.
In the end it would have been either a decision win for the aggressive George , or a late stoppage for George over a tiring and hurt Ali.

Maybe in the 16 foot ring they were fighting in.Plus the heavily padded canvas that would make it hard for Ali to move and dance in.

But what do you think would have happened in a 24 foot ring, without a heavily padded canvas?

Remember,in Ali's previous fight he danced 12 rounds against Joe Frazier and trained real hard to dance and move against George Foreman. So what do you think would have happened in a 24 foot ring?

            I don't know .
Could Ali dance 15 rounds ?
            I guess not.
And Foreman had about the same reach as Ali , he did not need to close the distance as much as Frazier needed , and he knew how to do it anyway. Ali could avoid a significant precentage of them , but I doubt that enough.
