They were close fights with good fighters. He went on to do have some good wins after the Taylor losses and a great win and great performance vs Pavlik after the Calzaghe loss. He also came close to beating Calzaghe, and fought a pretty good fight against him.

not to be a smart ass BUT... SRR lost a **** ton of fights after he lost the middleweight title for the last time. Dont think it effected his ATG status much as he is rated, oh i dont know, number one??? If it sounds like im being sarcastic, I am. People put WAAAAY too much emphasis on losses nowadays. In the old days, losses were part of life. Part of a career. Unfortunately, they define who you are today. Its sad really. Bottom line...Bhop is top 5, one of the greatest middles of all time. hands down

Do the losses towards the end of any fighters career really matter? All of them lose fights to people they would have probably beaten in their prime.
I don't think anyone looks back and says William Joppy was great because he beat Duran or Memo Ayon how went 15-8 in his career was an ATG because he beat Sugar Ray Robinson.

I'd say it affected the winning fighters more than anyone. Jermain was never quite the same after those two fights. Joe thought of himself as some kind "legend killer" (Roy and Bhop)and wanted to retire that way.

Not that much
But a note to all the people bringing up his age-all his best wins came when he was 36+ so it really isnt the point
What i mean is that if you took off the part of his record when he was old you would be erasing some of his best wins aswell as those losses
