Greater HW. Max Schmeling or Lennox Lewis?

Schmelings victory over a young prime Joe Louis far trumps anything that Lewis did in his entire career.
I don't want to get into the "Louis was green" argument, really. Louis was the Manny Pacquiao of the US and he got dealt.

Of course its Lennox Lewis!
Max was a good heavyweight in his day with a good chin and a good right hand but barring the Louis win his career isn't too distinguished at world level.
The Sharkey matches were close, but Baer absolutely destroyed him........its amazing that the Baer beating didn't finish his career! Couple that with his hapless effort in the return with a well prepared Louis and its obvious that his championship credentials pale in comparison to Lewis.......and I'm not really a Lewis fan.
You need only to watch a few films of Schmelling to see that he was an inferior fighter to Lewis in retrospect too.
And in a head to head match I'd honestly doubt that Schmelling's right cross would be able to fell Lewis, I cant see him having anything like the power of a McCall or Rahman. I think Lennox would beat him in a round like Joe did.

Lewis by far. Schmeling was a top fighter in the division in his time, but never really dominated.
