  • Is a Miguel Canto a ATG?

Well? Do you think Miguel Canto should be remembered as a ATG?

What are your thoughts on him, his legacy. ATG ranking etc?

Absolutely: Great fighter. He doesn't get talked about as much because of his size (as a rule, the lower the weight the less likely fans will follow the fighters).

Been so long since I saw him fight back in the 70s I can't even remember his opponents anymore lol. I've had him on my back burner to search for video but haven't gotten to him yet.

The man started his career in 1969 and stopped KOing people by 1975...that sound like an ATG to you? Factor in how a lot of his decision victories were MD/SD against relative unknowns too.

His record in world title fights is 15-2-1. 6 of the 15 wins were MD/SD. Video footage of his fight with the tall but ordinary Vibonchai is below, he won by SD:

It's actually pretty safe to say the man never KOed a world class fighter ever. He got those 15 KOs early in his career because they were trash to C level fighters. Even Willie Pep KOed world class fighters here and there...after the plane crash too.
