Some similarities to my good self there, old buddy!

The only stand out difference being, that I prefer Mercer to Ruiz.. Ruiz was the greater achiever of the two, and I will own up to being a big admirer of Mercer.. He's definitely my type of fighter, and I regard him as a less skilled HW version of Duran.. The KO of Morrison is a candidate for top 10 most brutal of all time, and his performance agaist Lewis was exceptional in a fight, where he was on the bones of his arse (financially) and had trained himself in a ****ty little gym somewhere.. That fight really put him on the map, but due to his own age & inconsistency, put in a poor performance against an aging Holmes.. I think Mercer Ruiz would be an even money fight tbh, and would depend on which version of Ray turned up, but at his best he was a nightmare for anyone..

I really wanted to add Ibeabuchi too, but I'm often arguing against those who never had enough fights, so it wouldn't be right.. But it will always be my belief that he'd have cleared up, had he not had issues away from boxing..
Tua, i've rated at no10 in the past, but i'm on here to learn and other posters have convinced me on some of his short comings.. A superb puncher with a good chin, but not an A listed boxer..
Some may go for Moorer, but he beat a sick Holyfield and got iced by Foreman, so I don't think he qualifies..
How on Earth can you have Lewis in 1st place?? Don't you know, that he spent his whole career ducking Bowe and every other top contender of his time, and instead opted to defend against complete bums... like Tua, who is the fattest piece of **** to ever fight for a title and someone even a 46-year-old completely shot Holyfield would have knocked out without even breaking a sweat? And on top of that, he was poleaxed by McCall and Rahman - two of the worst "champions" ever.

No, of course you didn't know that, because you clearly don't know ****! Have you even seen Lewis fight? I bet you haven't! I dare you to name just ONE of his fights you claim to have seen - and then tell me when and where you saw it, and who the commentator was! But you can't do that, can you? No of course not, because you have never seen a fight IN YOUR LIFE! I, on the other hand, have a 20.000+ fight collection (I may have mentioned this once or twice before, but I'm so proud of this, that I like to brag about it every time I have the slightest excuse to do so), which puts me in a unique position: Because I have seen everything, I also know everything. Even stuff nobody else knows. For instance, are you aware that Bob Fitzsimmons is the greatest fighter p4p who ever lived - or that, peak vs peak, Patterson would have outpointed (yes OUTPOINTED!) Holmes? No, of course you don't know things like that, because 1: I'm the only person alive intelligent enough to understand this... and 2: You're one of those ignorant fools, who get all their information from BoxRec, instead of actually watching some real fights.

And now we're at it... what is this nonsense about you pretending to be living it up in Thailand? Do you really think we're all idiots, who buy that? No, I bet you really live in some remote, rural part of Scotland, where there's little or no interaction with the outside world (is that a banjo I hear playing in the background?). There you sit all day long, surfing the internet instead of actually getting a life! I would suggest that you make a once-in-a-lifetime trip to a big city, where you can attend a show for the firste time - just to get a feel of the atmosphere, so you have a small idea of what boxing is really all about. But since you have probably never been more than 5 miles away from your mamma, this may be asking too much!

Oh, by the way... have a nice day.

    Kind regards,
    Bundana

Mercer was a tough guy, no doubt. But he was to inconsistent in my opinion. The Morrison fight he was being easily handled till almost killing Tommy. Before that he was being easily handled by Damiani till he turned his nose into a bloody gusher.. He gotten beaten by an old Holmes and lost to trail horse Ferguson and drew with tough journeyman Marion Wilson. I give him much credit for his losing efforts in both the Holy and Lewis fights, but its just not enough (in my opinion) to make up for the disappointing losses and uninspired performances. At his best though I agree he is a formidable opponent for anyone.

Lewis is right above Holyfield. Byrd and Ruiz beat better fighters than both Tyson and Vitaly, though it is arguable. The biggest factor that put them above the other two was their lack of either talent or size, and willingness to overachieve. H2H I wouldn't pick either Byrd or Ruiz over VK or Tyson, but I think they were the greater heavies during said time period.
