IMO when evaluating a fighter's jab, you have to look at the results. Does the jab setup other punches? Does it bust up the opponent's face? Is it quick and sharp? Can it be used defensively to keep an opponent off?

When considering the aforementioned criteria, I vote Muhammad Ali. His jab was one of his signature punches and best weapons and he used it probably just as good as anyone else in the hw game..

Ali and Holmes for me. Ali's slightly faster, Holmes' slightly more concussive.

Does no one remember what a terrific jab Walcott had too?

I would agree with the general consensus and say: Liston, Holmes and Ali (No order)

Pinklon Thomas definitely deserves a mentioned in this thread as well, not the best ever HW jab but a very very good one!

Compared to guys like Liston and Holmes he doesn't have a jab. I don't grade on a curve so Vitali's kid sister doesn't get a boost because today's Heavyweights can't wipe their asses with their jabs.

Sonny Liston. He had the longest reach, and the most powerfull jab of all-time.

Liston once knocked out the teeth of an opponent with his left jab!
