Roberto Duran vs. James Toney at middleweight

ok guys, i dont know much about boxing's history, but i was wondering about these two guys, what kind of a fight would that be? I think the James Toney at middleweight could handle the fast paced offense and footwork of Duran, no matter how hard he hit, cuz Toney has a helluva chin!

but then again, i dont know Duran so well, and i might be totally wrong, so enlighten me boxing historians of boxing scene, how would this fight go?

Duran was at his best at lw, he was basically at the end of his career at mw. I think the fight plays out similiar to Hagler Duran, with Toney maybe stopping him late in the fight.

Do you mean the Roberto Duran at middleweight who fought Marvin Hagler and Iran Barkley? Or a fantasy fight with Duran in his prime at Middleweight?

          Thank you

the duran that beat Barkley, but also from a stylistic perspective, being that TOney was defensive great fighter, how would that play out?

I see Toney beating the Duran that fought and beat Barkley.

p4p would easily go to Duran.

                for sure, that's true..

it wasn't to diss duran, i didnt really know he was on much of a decline in the MW division, i just was thinking about the stylistic matchup, seeing Duran's all out offense and quick speed, lateral movement, handspeed and power against Toney's in your face elusive defense/counter offense and Toney's chin, the way he fought Barkley and Nunn, would've been a really interesting matchup if they were in their primes.

Toney would have been too strong and too fast.He gives Duran a beating on the outside and the inside.

It would probably be a fine display of in-fighting in the early rounds but Toney would be too strong for him if at his best. With weight-drained Toney you could never really know. A guy like Tiberi was able to move him around at will.

I think Duran might present Toney some problems if he comes in with the same gameplan that he did against Hagler, fighting more defensive-minded. Toney was never the best at chasing his foes.
