    1) His forgetable Featherweight career.

    or

    2) The fact that he was a Lightweight (pretty solid one already) who went down to beat Petey Sarron, who'd just dethroned an old Miller?

Neither one of those is particularly convincing. In fact, they're both pretty bad. I'd love to see you struggle to split hairs, though.

Armstrong wasn't an ATG Featherweight. (He might not have even been very good). That filth of a myth needs to get flushed. and a second flush for courtesy.

Rusty, you're right, Armstrong was not a hard puncher, if he was he would have knock out Barney Ross, as Barney lead with his chin. Pep an Hank would be a dull fight, neither could ko the the other. Hank wins by decision for his aggression.

You guys got a lot to learn, start by going to Google and search for, "Industrial folklore of Chicago". The guy who nearly killed Armstrong and battered Lou Amber's senseless.
He fought Armstrong half the fight blind in one eye and just a squint( out of other) and lead the fight up to the 10th rd. Henry closed Day's eyes not with his fist, but his elbows, everytime he throw a looping punch and missed, the elbows hit Day in the eyes. Also, hit Day every round in the balls.
Armstrong came out in the 11th rd and hit Day five times south of the border, would do anything not to lose. Mr DAY never suffered a cut eye in over 250 amateur and pro fights. Armstrong and Amber's would not give him a rematch, turning down $35,000 each from Day's manager.
Tony Canzonari, Zivic, Jenkins and a young 19 yr old Sugar Ray Robinson ducked him (1941). Enjoy.
