Foreman destroyed Frazier. Ali beat Frazier twice. Lewis made Tua look amateurish for twelve rounds. Wlad and Vitali are two guys who use their length to shut out opponents.

Reach is an advantage in boxing.

        no.
and there really weren't so many like these that confronted both types while prime.

you know the outcomes in Foreman-Frazier 1,2 .
that's about a third of all these types of fights in history that envolved prime or close to it fighters

Ah I'm with Sonnyboy on this one. Foreman didn't really fight like the bigger man in this fight, he threw uppercuts and hooks all night long at Joe while he was close. He would let Frazier come in while he tee'd off on him and then he would outmuscle him and push him off and repeat the cycle until he hit chin.

In my opinion if the two fighters are equally skilled I'll go with the taller fighter. From my own experience it takes a lot more energy to get inside as a smaller man than it does use your jab and legs to keep your average swarming little guy away. That said when it comes to the creme of the crop of boxing I think it has more to do with which fighter is more proficiently skilled and who can adapt to the fight. I think a great recent example of this was Diaz vs. Malinaggi.

that's why the thread starter wrote : big puncher .
foreman did fight like a tall puncher as opposed to tall boxer , see the difference ?
also quarry vs. lyle is another good example for the scenario described here but i haven't seen that fight.

Oops... My mistake I totally read the title as "Tall Boxer's vs. Short Pressure Fighter's". In that case my last post is more or less worthless. My bad .

It is definitely about skill. A if the tall guy and the short guy have the same skill, the tall guy wins.

Examples of a small guy beating on bigger guys:
Tyson against anyone is a small man whooping a tall man.
                      Duran vs. Moore and Barkley
                      Frazier Ali 1

But when the tall guy has skill and is allowed to use his distance, height (and is allowed to excessively hold) then you get your:
                      Lennox Lewis vs. Tyson
                      Ali vs. Frazier
                      Hearns vs. Duran
