  • Mayweather states he is better than Ali and SRR

I guess the debate about the greatest P4P is setttled as Mayweather stated in the latest 24/7 episode he is better than both Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson, LOL. True boxing fans reply to mayweather

hes trying to be like Ali by acting overly confident and winning. Only difference is Ali fought the best and never ducked.

He already explained what he meant by it and it makes perfect sense.

Basically he isn't going to say anyone is better than him because he put so much work into the game. Why say someone is better than you even though you put your entire life into the game?

Thats like Steve Jobs saying someone is better than him at making computers. Not gonna happen.

      It's all about confidence.

I don't agree. But he has every right to believe in himself how he wants and I'm not going to get emotional about it like a lot of people do. I guess the best way to convince him otherwise would be to beat him which Mosley has a chance to do.

Mayweather is great but Ali and Robinson were far more entertaining and had much better combination work.

Peak Ali was harder to hit and Robinson had much more concussive one punch power than Mayweather. Floyd is on his way to being an ATG but he needs to do much more to command a place ahead of these two.

Fair point. I think one fundamental difference between mayweather and his contempories is the respect of the history of the sport. Mike Tyson for all of his faults never even compared himself to Ali. Even when posed with the question about who is better in the arsenio hall show he looked at ali and said "this is the greatest of all time." BTW, Tyson at the time was like 35-0 and still undefeated and showed respect. I have all of Mayweather's fights and admit he is exceptionally talented. At 130, he was a beast and can either out box or out slug you. By the time he got to 140 he become both more cautious and selective with his opponents. You can't call Arturo Gatti a paper champion and than take his title as it was a great accomplishments.

Between 140-147 there were many viable opponents he didn't face as Tsyzu, Cotto, Margarito, PW and Pacman. Sure, he can't fight them all but you would expect more compelling challenges. He always trashed Mosely by saying he has 5 losses and now agrees to fight him. If he likes undefeated fighters he could have fought guys like Bradley, Maidana, or Alexander. But anyway that is just my opinion.
