Louis never fought anybody near as good as a prime Mike Tyson.

Louis never beat a top 15 heavyweight of all-time.
    Touche my friend!

i dont underestimate joe.i like him.but if unprime mike can take 10 rnds of bombs from douglas, lewis, holy,he can damn sure take anything joe can dish.meanwhile joe couldnt take everything schmeling could give out.no way he survives more than a few rounds with mike.and joe looked fast compared to who he was fighting.mike arguably has the fastest hands in heavy history and a granite chin

I go for a Tyson win too. For every fight that Louis looked sensational, there was another where he looked very vulnerable and easy to hit. I could see prime Mike destroying the Louis that turned up for Schmelling one, Gallento, Baer, Braddock or Conn.

To beat prime Tyson i think a fighter needs a terrific defense, mobility and a great chin. Louis comes up too short on these counts for me.

arguements can be made on both sides by breaking down performances where opposing fighters looked less than their best, i.e tyson vs green, bonecrusher, louis vs conn, walcott, etc etc.

whoever is making an arguement for louis will usually trash mike's previous performances, and even bring up his loses. if someone is backing mike im sure the same tactic will be applied to louis.

with that said, louis been on the canvas over 16 times, billy conn a super middleweight by today's standards was able to have his way with conn. louis was hurt multiple times by the punching power of max shmeling, tyson has twice the amount of power in his right hand.

point being, it's nice to sit back and bull**** about these fantasy outcomes, and come up with valid points. but if this fight was taking place today, with both fighters in their prime, and if i were to gamble on this fight, i would put half if not all the saving in my bank account on tyson to end the fight by ko.

          that is it.

Mike wins 2-3. Stylistically he's bad for Louis. Speed and power against a guy with an average chin. Also, JL was slow on his feet. Nice hand speed, but that's comparable with Mike's and not way superior.

They clash, Tyson has a better chin and wins an explosive fight.

Looks like most people favor Tyson.

In other head to head threads with Joe Louis......

              Muhammad Ali is favored

              George Forman is favored

              Sonny Liston is favored

              Joe Frazier is favored

              Gene Tunney is about even

              Jack Johnson is about even

              Jack Dempsey is about even

              Now Mike Tyson is favored
