    Rs: Boxing deaths

IMO, Real Sports this week did a phenomenal job in their investigation reports of the tragic deaths last July of Alexis Arguello, Arturo Gatti, and Vernon Forrest. I urge everyone to watch this program, as it shed light on the unfortunate events and although it raised more questions than answers, it was so detailed that it educates you on what was going on during the time these men died. The most moving part of this program was Forrest's godson Shemar recalling the incident and how forthright he was. Shemar, despite his age, spoke with such confidence and love for Vernon that it was heartwrenching. The Arguello segment was a heartbreaker for me as well. Arguello, one of my all-time idols, had gotten to a point in his life where he made a deal with the devil. His oldest son spoke with love for Alexis and hatred for the Sadinistas. As for the Gatti segment, I came out of it feeling there was chicanery involved as it was revealed that he changed his will 3 weeks before his death, making his wife the sole heir. This program will have you fighting back tears.

They should have brought up Arguello's history with the Sadinistas. They mentioned that he was a casual supporter of the dictator Somazo, but they didn't bring up the fact that Arguello had supported and even donated to the Sadinista cause. His brother died fighting for the Sadinista cause.

Excellent point. I'm surprised Alexis's son didn't bring up how his uncle died fighting for Ortega. The program is available for download on the Video Trading Block forum

Perhaps he hates them so much that he's ashamed of what his uncle fought for.All he knew growing up was that these people had forced his father into exile, kicked his grandmother out of her home and took everything that his father had worked for.
