This is their records at the time(s) they fought Ali and Louis. You can also switch them around if you want; just try to pick the best against the best. Meaning you should have the top opponents that Ali boxed against the top opponents of Louis.

That’s 31 wins against 23 different opponents. All 23 opponents were rated #3 or better in the World at one time or another by Ring Magazine.
alis oppontents are just stronger head 2 head compared to louis, there is no way any1 can deny that.

      • Muhammad Ali fought in 17 fights that were against a world champion.

That's almost 1/3 of his fights.

Great post mate.........its so evident when you place them side by side that Ali's level of competition was just 1 up on everyone else

              • Ali.

He would of broke Louis' record if he wasnt banned.

                • Joe Louis was more dominant, but suffers from poor era.

                  • I voted Louis. I consider it folly to call either man a shoo-in for the #1 spot, personally.

                    • It would be a great match but unlike Liston and Foreman and other hard hitters Ali faced Louis was faster more explosive and was a brilliant combination puncher and probably the most accurate puncher ever. I would take Louis by a late KO.
