You can't see this cos you hate lewis so much.
Tysons intension in 96 when he won the WBC Title off Frank Bruno was to unify the Heavyweight Titles and nothing else. Lewis was WBC No1 contender and thought of as nothing more than a 1st round KO for Tyson who was looking to fight Bruce Seldon for his WBA belt, Lewis was offered £3 million to step-a-side and wait 12 months for his title shot while Tyson fought Seldon, Lewis had no need to accept he could have said `no thanks` and went ahead and forced Tyson to fight him for a career highest purse and a guaranteed title shot but Lewis did not do that, so to claim Tyson ducked Lennox Lewis is not correct, if Lewis thought he could beat the 96 version of Mike Tyson he would have said,"NO THANKS" and went and beat him for the title then went on and beat Seldon & Moorer to become undisputed champion as well as 20 times richer than the $3 million step-a-side money.. many fighters have been paid step-a-side money over the years but that does not mean that the champion is afraid of that fighter, Alexander Povetkin is being paid ste-a-side money so that Wladimir Klitschko can fight David Haye, is Klitschko afraid of Povetkin?... Lennox Lewis tried to offer David Tua step-a-side money but David Tua said "NO THANKS" and went ahead with the bigger payday and the guaranteed title shot.

I was looking for this information the other day when this came up in another thread.

This is what I thought I read you post before but I couldn't remember the exact details and it confirms exactly what I already knew and was trying to say in the last thread.

Lennox Lewis is a garbage over rated phony champion.

      Thanks sonny.

Give him **** as in hating him for it or in terms of discrediting the victory? If you mean the bitterness, Mike was a hero to many and they didn't like seeing him taken out in bloody fashion.

As far as legitimacy, I don't think the win can be questioned, as I agree both men were about the same age, though it was clear Mike was far gone and Lewis was still in near peak form. That's just people always thinking of Tyson for what he once was and refusing to accept what he had become. Easier to say Mike would thrash him in younger days than to just give Lennox his due.

Here is the proof... infact it was Lewis who ducked Tyson turning down $13.5 million

Lewis then accepted $4 million from King to step aside and allow Tyson to fight Seldon, with the proviso that Tyson, assuming he beat Seldon, would fight Lewis next. Tyson is expected to receive $30 million for fighting Seldon.
If everything went to plan then Tyson would of had two belts when he fought Lewis, who wanted to fight him after he beat Sheldon
Now Lewis's handlers say they will guarantee Tyson $45 million to fight Lewis, but Tyson seems more interested in fighting Evander Holyfield, a former champion. If Tyson bypasses Lewis, the W.B.C. will strip Tyson of his title for refusing to fight its top-ranked contender.
Same article, they are offering Tyson a fight, but he wanted to fight Holyfield instead. How can you read this stuff and conclude something totally different?

              2+2=5?

What he's saying is that Lewis didn't have to let Mike fight Seldon or Holyfield. At the time he could have turned down the step aside money and taken 13.5 million guaranteed to fight Mike but he didn't.

The article clearly states that Lewis agreed to take the step aside money if he gets to fight Tyson after Seldon. That means he got 3m to wait a few months.

In other words 3M + 13.5M for waiting a few months.
